Exam objectives
The OSPI Certified: MySQL Administrator examination assesses day-one through day-two MySQL
administration on a live Linux server using MySQL Community Server. Candidates work in an
isolated live lab against a realistic database administration scenario.

1. Instance installation, users, and database lifecycle (20%)
- Install and verify a MySQL instance on Ubuntu LTS
- Create application and read-only user accounts with appropriate privileges
- Provision an application database with correct ownership and access boundaries
- Document connection and role configuration for operational handoff

2. Schema deployment, privileges, and application access (30%)
- Deploy provided schema and seed data into the application database
- Validate deployed objects and baseline row counts
- Apply indexes aligned to application query patterns
- Grant least-privilege access for application and reporting roles
- Produce query results used for operational reporting

3. Server configuration, authentication, and connectivity (20%)
- Adjust server logging and runtime parameters with minimal disruption
- Configure client authentication for local and TCP application access
- Verify application connectivity and document connection endpoints

4. Backup, restore, replication, and maintenance (30%)
- Create logical backups suitable for restore testing
- Restore a backup into a separate database and confirm data integrity
- Configure basic replication or standby readiness as specified in the lab
- Run routine maintenance and interpret post-maintenance status
